Florida DETS Course (6 Hours)

The Florida Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) Course, often referred to as the 6-Hour Course, is an educational program aimed at new drivers and individuals required by the courts or the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) to complete additional training.

This course covers essential topics such as traffic laws specific to Florida, safe driving practices, defensive driving techniques, vehicle operation, alcohol and drug awareness, accident prevention strategies, and legal responsibilities associated with driving.

The curriculum is structured over six hours and provides both theoretical knowledge and practical guidance to help participants become safer drivers. The primary goal of the course is to reduce traffic violations and enhance road safety across the state.

This program is available through various educational institutions and state-approved providers in both online and in-person formats for added convenience. After completing all modules and passing any required assessments or quizzes, participants receive a certificate of completion. This certificate must be presented to the DHSMV as proof that they have met this requirement before obtaining a driver’s license or fulfilling other legal obligations related to driving in Florida.
